BA-MA-008 Morrigan

Artifact Description

A mourning adornment fashioned in the form of a skull pendant, distinguished by an iridescent finish beneath an arrangement of blue, green, and crystal ornamentation. The shifting coloration alters with changing light, presenting no single appearance for long. Entered into the Ledger as an object in which remembrance appears not as an ending, but as a continuation through change.

Provenance

The precise origin remains unconfirmed. Its present construction reflects careful modern workmanship, while its unusual finish recalls mineral patinas and aged surfaces seldom preserved in so complete a state. No authenticated example has arrived with documentation sufficient to establish a continuous history, and no reliable account identifies either its maker or earliest custodian.

Observations

Authenticated examples consistently display subtle shifts in color according to the surrounding light, ranging from deep cobalt and emerald to muted bronze and violet. Variations in the arrangement of pearls and crystal have been recorded, though the distinctive iridescent surface remains constant across every known specimen.

Visitors frequently remark that Morrigan appears different each time it is examined. The consistency of this observation has warranted permanent inclusion within the record, though no unusual properties have been demonstrated beyond the ordinary behavior of light upon the materials employed.

Preservation Note

Keep from damp and from all perfumed oils. Avoid abrasive polishing, particularly upon the colored surface, as excessive wear may diminish the subtle variations of the finish. When laid aside, permit the chain to rest freely and protect the jeweled ornamentation from unnecessary pressure.
